Collective Witnessing

Collective Witnessing develops witnessing as an artistic research practice through artist-led interviews, situated storytelling, reflective writing and cinematic practices. Bringing together artistic, scientific and everyday perspectives, the zone explores how memories, dreams, gestures and seemingly ordinary observations reveal hidden seismic meanings, emotional landscapes and collective forms of resilience. Open-ended dialogues with artists, scientists, writers and other protagonists from across the project respond to shared questions from different disciplinary and lived perspectives. Interviews and conversations are understood as collaborative forms of knowledge production rather than documentation alone. Through collective drawing, performative experiments, speculative scenarios and public conversations, audiences become co-witnesses and contributors to shared processes of inquiry. Notation as a seismography of presences traces relationships, atmospheres and transformations that might otherwise remain unnoticed.
