University of Applied Arts Vienna
The University of Applied Arts Vienna (Angewandte) is one of Europe's leading universities for art, design and artistic research. Through its mission "We Apply Future" (Wir wenden Zukunft an), the University is committed to shaping the future through artistic and scientific inquiry. It fosters experimental, interdisciplinary approaches that create new forms of knowledge and respond to complex social, technological and ecological challenges. Rather than seeking simple solutions, the Angewandte promotes critical thinking, creativity and collaboration as essential tools for addressing the complexities of contemporary society.
The Creative Europe project Shaken Grounds: Art as Seismography is hosted by the Angewandte Performance Laboratory (APL), the University's transversal platform for performance art. The APL explores the relationships between bodies, perception, media, technologies and society, positioning performance as both an artistic medium and a mode of research. Bringing together artists, researchers and students across disciplines, it develops artistic research projects, workshops, symposia, publications and public presentations that connect artistic practice with critical inquiry and societal engagement. The laboratory fosters collaboration across departments and international partners.
